Tell us what you think of us - and you could win a copy of ecoescape!
Welcome to the May edition of the Ethical Weddings newsletter.
As you've probably noticed from our constantly changing homepage, we like mixing things up a bit now and again.
So we thought it was about time we asked you what you wanted and needed from the Ethical Weddings website - after all, there would be no point in us doing this at all if we didn't have couples like you trying to plan an ethical and green wedding!
To keep things simple, we've come up with 3 questions:
1. What do you like most about the Ethical Weddings website?
2. What do you like the least?
3. What one thing would you add or change that would really help you in your ethical wedding planning?
Let us know what you think by 25 June and you could win a copy of ecoescape (worth £8.99) - written by our own blogger bride, Laura - to help you plan that green honeymoon!
The winner will be announced in our June newsletter.
Ingle & Rhode ethical jewellery special offer
We are delighted to have a great special offer for our Ethical Weddings couples this month.
Ethical jewellery designers, Ingle & Rhode are offering a £20 or 10% discount (whichever is the greater) off any item when quoting "Ethical Weddings", from engagement and wedding rings to a gorgeous necklace to wear with 'that dress'.
See Ingle & Rhode on Ethical Weddings and browse their collection. Place your order by the end of June 2008 to take advantage of this offer.
New real ethical wedding stories
We have some really interesting real ethical wedding stories for you this month...
Caitlin and Brian (pictured sitting in a tree!) celebrated their wedding in Wisconsin, USA. They made their vows under a towering Catalpa tree, dined under a garden canopy and had dancing and dessert in a barn.
James and Barbara, meanwhile, are founders of the ethical dating website, Natural Friends. They have shared with us some thoughts on their ethical wedding (before the term was coined!) back in 1973...
And last but not least, Vicky & Jez (our web designers, Make Hay) tied the knot in April. Green and ethical touches included a dress from Oxfam Bridal, antique wedding rings, recycled stationery, and a Fairtrade wedding cake courtesy of Jez's mum!
Get in touch if you'd like to share your ethical wedding story.
Our May featured suppliers
We featured four great ethical wedding suppliers this month covering everything from the dress and wedding rings to hire cars.
Motasem (pictured) and Wholly Jo's both create fabulous, feminine and (most importantly) flattering wedding gowns for the ethical bride.
Fifi Bijoux continues to fly the flag for ethical jewellery (see 'In Other News', left) showing that it can be both ethically and aesthetically gorgeous - and answering your questions as one of our Ethical Weddings Experts.
And finally, Great Escape offers classic car hire while offsetting the carbon emissions for a greener ride to get you to the church on time!
Keep checking our homepage for next month's featured suppliers, with vegetarian caterers, a florist using locally-grown flowers and more wonderful wedding dresses...
tawc to us
And now for something a little bit different...
Ethical Weddings together with wedding coach, Lesley of Getting Married from the Inside Out, and ethical stylist, Lou, are setting up tawc (the authentic wedding connection) to give brides and grooms-to-be the chance to chat with others who are also approaching this rite-of-passage moment.
The idea is to share tips and advice on planning a green and ethical wedding and work out what getting married means to you and how your wedding can really represent who you are, individually and as a couple.
The first group is due to meet in July (a weekday evening) in Brighton & Hove, so if you are interested in coming along, let us know, we'd love to meet you!
Find out more about this event.
Until next time...
That's all for May. We're off to Cornwall next week for a holiday and a wedding (what else?!) but we'll be back with more ethical wedding news in June.
Happy planning!
Katie & Jamie
