ecoescape turns a new leaf!

Dear firstname,

You've heard it first - the new ecoescape series of eco-travel guides is officially launched!

Our brand spanking new UK travel guide is hot off the press and has more ideas than ever for green places to stay and visit across the country.

It's the first book in a new series which will include exciting new titles and destinations including ecoescape: Ireland, due for publication in May 2008.

If you'd like to be one of the first to get hold of a copy of the new UK guide AND take advantage of free shipping click here and use this special code: ecoUK.

I've written the book and travelled slowly around the country to ensure that my impact has been as small as possible. Hopefully we'll inspire you to do the same!

And finally thank you for all your support to help make ecoescape happen since its humble beginnings two years ago. Without you, we couldn't have made this possible and we hope that you'll continue to be inspired by tales of responsible escapism!

Best wishes

Laura Burgess

1. The Straw Bale Cabin

1. The Straw Bale Cabin

East Yorkshire is often overlooked by travellers heading north to the Dales or Moors. However, I discovered one of my favourite ecoescapes on a secluded farm in East Riding just to the south. It's a cabin built with straw bales and features loads of earth-friendly things like an honesty shop filled to the brim with local produce and organic bedsheets. And we've heard on the grapevine that there'll soon be a straw bale cottage to join the cosy little cabin. Visit the Straw Bale Cabin's website.

2. BeWILDerwood

2. BeWILDerwood

The fictional world of Boggles and Twiggles comes to life at the boutique theme park BeWILDerwood in Norfolk. The story follows the adventure of Swampy, a young Marsh Boggle who uncovers the mystery of Scaaaaary Lake. Visitors to Bewilderwood can follow in his footsteps, book in hand, and discover shoe-stealing Thornyclod spiders and dancing wood Twiggles. The park is all built sustainably - treehouses included. Visit BeWILDerwood's website.

3. TYF Eco Hotel and Activity Centre

3. TYF Eco Hotel and Activity Centre

Some would say crazy. Others suicidal. But that didn’t stop me from embarking on a fully fledged outdoor adventure trip on the Pembrokeshire coast in mid- December. Luckily I survived to tell the tale and can fully back the TYF company as a great way to get outdoors (try coasteering or kayaking) and at the same time protect the environment. Their organic eco hotel is comfortable and affordable with delicious wholesome breakfasts to get you going in the morning. Visit TYF's website.

4. The Cross at Kingussie

4. The Cross at Kingussie

Located in the small Highland town of Kingussie, the Cross is one for all you foodies out there. It's a restaurant with rooms - very much in that order. My stay was all about fine food followed by fine walks in the surrounding hills. Owners David and Katie are kind hosts. They always seem to be one step ahead of you, offering treats like a wee shortbread or a glass of organic wine. And when your defences are down, you really can’t say no! Visit the Cross' website.

5. Trelowarren

5. Trelowarren

The smell of wild garlic still lingers in my nostrils. It positively wafts around the stunning Trelowarren estate deep in the Lizard AONB in Cornwall. And there's more than a strong chance that wild garlic will make it on the menu at the estate's award-winning restaurant. The wood clad self-catering properties at Trelowarren are available as a time-share or when they’re not occupied, as self-catering holiday rentals. This ensures that occupancy is sustained throughout the year and local employment is supported. Visit Trelowarren's website.
