The idea of having an ethical or green wedding is now so well known that people are studying it at university!
We get lots of queries from students wanting to know more about these brides and grooms who care about more than just their perfect day. Our latest come from Vickie at Goldsmiths and Natalie from City University, both in London.
If you have a few spare minutes (we know they're hard to come by!) to answer a few questions by phone or email about your wedding, they would be eternally grateful!
Let us know and we'll put you in touch.

A belated happy new year
Well we've managed to get this first newsletter of 2008 in just before the end of the month which I think still allows us to wish you a very happy New Year!
If your beloved took advantage of the festlve mood to pop the question and this is your first missive from us, we'd like to wish you many congratulations and hope you'll stay with us a while... and maybe even tell us a bit about your plans.
And for those of you already knee deep in planning, with weddings rapidly looming and purse strings tightening after the annual gift exchange, you'll be pleased to see we've got some top ethical and green wedding budget tips for you.
To give you even more of a helping hand, we have compiled a run down of charity shops with specialist bridal departments. If you know of one that is missing from our list, please do let us know.
We need to talk...
Don't worry - we're not breaking up with you, we just really want to talk! Do you think we could?
We'd love to bend your ear for 10-15 minutes to find out what you think about the whole green and ethical wedding thing, how you’ve found the experience, and how helpful or otherwise you've found our website!
We’ll call you (of course!) wherever you are in the world. Let us know if you'd be willing by dropping us an email and we can find a good time to call.
Special offers and a new expert
Back to the budget issues, we had a chat with our suppliers to let them know you might be struggling a bit and they have come up trumps with some special offers for our US based brides:
- Authentic Eye Photography is offering 10% off all packages for couples using any two other green vendors.
- Videographer, Jennifer Sabini Evans of BeanTime Productions is offering six hours of her time free of charge to 4 US couples who are having a Green Wedding in 2008. See BeanTime Productions' page to find out how to enter this competition.
We are also delighted to welcome a new member to our Ask an Expert panel. Sarah Hughes is a wedding photographer and former wedding planner and is eager to answer your queries.
A fair trade wedding?
Fairtrade Fortnight is coming around again. Last year we took on a Fairtrade Wedding Challenge to find a fair trade product or products related to a different aspect of wedding planning for each day of the fortnight.
This year, it would be great to find out about some of the ways you've managed to go fair trade with your wedding. We've started you off with a couple of pics and ideas from our wedding and we'll add yours as we receive them.
Or maybe you're not sure fair trade is the way forward and we should be concentrating on local and organic produce. It would be interesting to get your views on this - you can vote in our poll and debate it in the forum...
Valentine's Day
Dare we mention the 'V' day? Last year we started a mini debate on whether it was worth forking out for the fourteenth of Feb... so why not do it again (debate that is)?
We'll commence by confessing the husband is hopelessly soppy and insists on at least a meal to commemorate this commercial celebration of our love... there, it's been said!
But how is it for you? Discuss...
Until next time...
That's about all for now, we'll be back after 'V' day!
Take care,
Katie & Jamie
