Welcome
Dear firstname,
Hello there. And welcome to the first member newsletter. I hope the new format is easier to read and follow.
The aim of the monthly newsletter is to keep in touch with you and to tell you about relevant industry news and messages from fellow members. So if you've got anything you'd like to tell everyone about or you'd like to pick their brains about something, don't forget to email me on laura@ecoescape.org.
Enjoy, and speak to you soon.
Laura Greenman

Media enquiries
As many of you know, Ecoescape is signed up to a number of media wires including the well-used TravMedia. So we receive regular requests from journalists looking for story proposals and destinations. We try our best to get media coverage for you if we can, and will often forward requests to relevant members to respond directly. Please look out for these in the coming months and get in touch if you have any questions relating to media coverage or writing press releases.
Don't forget we can check through your press release and send it to our contacts too. We also have a press release toolkit which gives you some handy hints for writing a successful press release. If you'd like a copy, email laura@ecoescape.org.

Ecoescape receives funding
Laura Greenman, Ecoescape's founder, has not only recently got married, but also received some funding to help grow the business. Her compelling vision to help people travel closer to home and rethink the way they holiday helped her achieve a prestigious Level 2 Award by UnLtd – the charitable foundation that supports social entrepreneurs.
“Level 2 Awards are unique!” says Kevin Lloyd-Evans, Development Manager at UnLtd. “We’re looking for inspiring people who have innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to some of biggest challenges facing communities, wider society and the world. Laura has shown that she has the ambition and drive to deliver positive change. ”
Laura was one of only 11 awardees in the country and the cash injection will cover her living expenses for the next year while she develops the business.

Do you need help... building, renovating, clearing, growing...?
One thing we've learnt since starting Ecoescape is that our members always have a project on the go whether it involves eco-renovating or digging up the dinner. This made us think that an extra pair of hands might come in useful now and again. And then we thought, why not get volunteers who could benefit from working holidays to help out.
Well, this is just the essence of the idea we have in mind and to make it happen we need you to tell us what needs doing! So if you have a big project on the horizon over the next 12 months and need a team of volunteers, then email us with the details!

UK domestic overnight tourism trips down
According to VisitEngland, UK Domestic overnight tourism trips were down by 15% in the month of March – perhaps not altogether surprising given the later timing of Easter this year, but together with the economic downturn, contributing to an overall first quarter decline of 14% year on year. The United Kingdom Tourism Survey national consumer survey measures the volume and value of tourism trips taken by residents of the United Kingdom. It is jointly sponsored by VisitBritain, VisitScotland, Visit Wales and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. For more information and to get the latest statistics click here.
