Media News
Harry Wallop, Consumer Affairs Editor at The Daily Telegraph, spoke at an media event last week. Here are his top three tips to gain coverage in the Daily Telegraph:
- Ask yourself – is this really a story
- Ensure you have all information to hand – quotes, facts, figures, statistics
- Read the paper – know the sort of stories that are being covered
Here are some more of his thoughts and tips:
- Don’t send huge press releases or high resolution images – these will be the first to be deleted!
- They are ready for ‘happy’ credit crunch stories eg who and what is doing well from the financial situation. There has been enough doom and gloom!
- They are working on stories at least 48hrs in advance of publication
- Case studies really help bring a story to life
- They particularly like exclusives for a Saturday
- Stories are being filed earlier and earlier – 4pm is too late to receive a story
