What not to do - we did it!
Ethical brides, Sam and Henriette have been blogging with us in the build up to their respective big days but now the day has come and gone, we've been begging them for the lowdown!
At last the wait is over. Henriette tells how they flouted the wedding magazine rules to great effect in her post, 'What not to do - we did it!' while Sam shares her story of a camping wedding with lots of kids - and thankfully no need for wedding wellies.
Next month we'll hear all about Elaine's humanist green wedding.
Seeing red - free Greenland Ruby
Some would say Greg Valerio of Cred Jewellery should be taking a well-earned rest. After years fighting for responsibly sourced, traceable gold, his dream to see certified fair trade gold in the UK market looks set to come true early in 2010.
But the jewellery industry is a complex beast and Greg is on a mission to tame it. So he is lending his support to the native Inuit Greenlanders' campaign to free the Greenland Ruby - and we hope you will too.
Inuit Greenlanders have for centuries practised traditional small-scale ruby prospecting but in 2007, True North Gems, a Canadian mining company, had locals arrested for doing just this.
According to the native Greenlanders, their local government is acting in collusion with True North Gems to create a ruby monopoly which will stop them making a living from responsible small scale mining.
Find out more about the Free Greenland Ruby campaign and sign the online petition to the Home Rule Parliament of Greenland to protect the indigenous rights of the native Greenlanders.
Lazy Lates at green London venue
Green wedding venue, the RSA in London is launching a new wedding package: Lazy Lates.
Most people will tell you you must organise your wedding at least a year in advance but the RSA has dreamed up a choice of all inclusive packages for couples who'd rather tie the knot sooner than later.
Get wed between August 2009 and March 2010 to take advantage of the RSA's fab packages that start from just £6500 + VAT for 60 guests.
Find out more about the RSA's Lazy Lates packages and read Sarah and Theo's story of a green wedding at the RSA.
A new expert and new bloggers
Jen Marsden, author of the Green Guide for Weddings, has helped us out with tips and advice on many occasions so we're thrilled that she has now joined our panel of ethical wedding experts
. Read Jen's expert profile and send in your questions.
We're also chuffed to welcome a green groom into the Ethical Weddings fold. Jeff is getting married in Mexico this November and is having fun finding alternatives to a 'mass-produced wedding'. He is also the brains behind the online wedding planner, My Wedding Workbook so we're expecting some wise green words
from him!
And in a feat of ethical bride speed blogging, Emma from Makes a Change joined us for some last minute posts about her green wedding plans before dashing down the aisle on 18 July. A big welcome and congratulations to Emma.
