Willie’s Loch Ness Marathon

We’d like to remind everyone that ScotsCare Chief Executive; Willie Docherty is running the Loch Ness marathon on the 5th of October this year. We are hoping to raise £10,000 which will be used to help us support vulnerable children and their families so if you haven’t donated yet, you can do so in 3 easy ways. Either go to www.justgiving.com/scotscaredocherty or visit www.scotscare.com/donate-nessie.php where you can donate online. You can also ensure we claim back the gift aid (currently 28p for every £1 donated) by ticking the relevant box. We would also encourage you to use the fundraising pack enclosed with this newsletter to fundraise yourself. Alternatively, send a cheque made out to ‘ScotsCare’ to Ross Trevail, ScotsCare, 37 King St, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 8JS. This is a great cause so we really need your help to raise our target.

Summer Fun

So far our outings have caught the best of our short summer, with day trips in blazing sunshine to Brighton for our over-60s group and to Margate for our Luton group. Another group of seniors went on a train
excursion to Hampton Court but here we struggled with pouring rain and a fire alarm in the Tudor kitchens, not the sunniest of outings! We also ran a cookery workshop, taught by chef Marti McKellar, at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church where our participants learn how to cook a healthy and affordable dish, followed by a meal together. Our families’ summer outing for 200 children and parents took place on August 26th in Southend. Our events are always great fun, so look out for those happening in the future.
