Before change happens
Looking out of the window it's obvious that we've just moved into a new season. The trees have dropped their leaves, the sun is low in the sky and the first layers of frost have begun to cover the ground. It is winter. Make Hay is also moving into a new season of change. As well as working on client websites and Green Hosting, over the next few months we'll be buzzing away building, creating and expanding our very own services. Come the New Year we will have lots more to tell you as well as a fresh new look. In the meantime here are some genuinely useful winter warmers...
Beat the scammers!
You may have received a letter from the 'Domain Registry of America' or 'Domain Registry of Europe' or 'Domain Registry of Canada' asking you to transfer your domain to them. THIS IS A SCAM! You should not receive any information about renewing your domain from anyone except the company who registered it for you. If we, here at Make Hay, organised your domain registration for you then we will let you know when it is due for renewal. If you have received any communication from the Domain Registry of America / Europe / Canada then please ignore it. You do not need to pay this company to renew your domain. You can find out more about this and other domain scams at the Domain Name Scams website
Resize on the go
I've just discovered this handy online tool which is really useful if you're working away from your regular computer or are unfamiliar with image editing tools. This is Resizr - www.resizr.com A goodie for bloggers or those of you who manage your own website content, Resizr lets you re-size images (and change a few other settings) online. You can either upload an image from a local computer or use one already on the web. Simple yet effective!
Get Linked In
The social networking site LinkedIn is often considered to be the more professional, sober alternative to Facebook. Personally I use both Facebook and LinkedIn but always preferred the extra interaction that Facebook allows. Well, LinkedIn has finally caught up. So as well as offering lots of scope to share your professional credentials LinkedIn Applications provides these goodies too:
Visit LinkedIn Applications to find out more. If you're not already a LinkedIn user you can sign up now at www.linkedin.com. When you've joined add us to your connections: |
